Preparation
Select appropriate placement for pool. Consider:
- Fencing
- Property lines
- Proximity to buildings/structures
- Trees and root systems
- Overhead obstructions (trees, power lines etc)
- Accessibility of excavator to area
- Local permit / Code requirements
- Underground utilities
- Septic tank/ leaching fields
- Design specifications as required
- Lay of land and any excavation required
Provide:
- Induction for all workers
- Sufficient lighting
- Suitable amenities
- Communication equipment
- First Aid supplies and trained first aiders
For turf cutters. Ensure:
- Adequate lighting (daylight only)
- Electric models not used in inclement weather
- Operator not fatigued or under influence of drugs/alcohol
- Hair tied back, no loose clothing or jewellery
- Operator able to handle force/weight of unit
- Operating manual available
- OArea clear of hazardous materials (wire, tree roots etc)
