Planning:

Obtain advice from suitably qualified persons that premises are safe to enter (Emergency Services, Structural Engineer).

Obtain advice/evidence from licensed Electrician that either power is isolated to premises or the electrical system is in a safe condition (certificate of electrical safety). Ensure gas is isolated to premises.

Identify potential hazards, eg:

• Work at heights (above 2m)
• Hazardous Manual handling tasks (such as lifting water-logged mattresses, carpets, building waste, awkward postures when cleaning/disinfecting)
• Cleaning chemicals (hazardous substances/dangerous goods – high strength anti-microbial, anti-fungal, sanitisers)
