Hedge Trimmer Safety Notes
When Operating a Hedge Trimmer:
- Before transporting ensure that: the engine has been shut off, the scabbard has been fitted over the blades, and the trimmer is carried by its front handle.
- Identify any work that might require cutting above shoulder height. This work should be kept to a minimal.
- When refuelling, the trimmer should be placed in a flat clear area, and ensure there are no naked flames.
- Perform a thorough pre-operational check daily.
- Take particular care when cutting hedges adjacent to wire fences. DO NOT touch the wire with the cutting blades.
